Favorite thing about wrestling?
-My favorite thing about wrestling is how challenging it is both mentally and physically. It’s just you and your opponent, and all the hard work you put in shows on the mat. I also love the confidence and discipline it’s given me.
Favorite past wrestler/coach?
I don’t just have one favorite coach — I have two. Coach Anderson and Coach
Kennington have helped me in so many ways, both on and off the mat, and I couldn’t be more grateful for everything they’ve done for me.
The wrestler I look up to the most is my dad, Nick Aullman. I’ve looked up to him as a wrestler since I was little, and he’s always inspired me to work hard and be the best version of myself.
Goal for wrestling, life, and career?
-My goal in wrestling is to continue improving every season, reach my full potential, and earn my second state title. I also hope to possibly continue wrestling in college, although I haven’t fully decided yet. In life and my career, my goal is to keep pushing myself, working hard, and growing both as an athlete and as a person.
If could teach a younger wrestler one thing, what would it be?
-I would tell them not to let their mind get the best of them. Confidence is everything in wrestling. You have to go into every match believing in yourself and knowing you can do it. No matter the outcome, it’s always a benefit. Like my dad has always told me, a loss isn’t really a loss — it’s a win in disguise because it shows you what you need to work on to become a better wrestler.
With girls wrestling being fairly new, I always like to ask about your previous experience prior to high school? Also, you had a great deal of success early on in high school, can you talk about that and your career in general?
-I wrestled for three years in peewee wrestling when I was younger, but I stopped during 7th and 8th grade. When girls wrestling became officially sanctioned my freshman year, I was beyond excited — I knew right away that it was something I wanted to be a part of. It opened so many opportunities for me, and I’m incredibly grateful it started when it did.
In the early years, there weren’t as many girls involved, but watching the sport grow over my four years of high school has been amazing. Being able to witness and be part of that growth throughout my entire high school career is something I’ll always appreciate. It’s opened doors for me and given me experiences I never imagined, and I’m so thankful I got to be part of it.
The Lady Braves are loaded again this season. Can you touch on what it means to be apart of this team and talk about the work you and your teammates put in to stay on top?
- Being part of the Lady Braves means more than just being on a successful team — it’s a true sisterhood. We have a strong bond and genuinely support one another both in practice and in competition. We push each other every day, hold each other accountable, and celebrate each other’s success. The hard work we put in — early mornings, tough practices, and always having each other’s backs — is what helps us stay competitive and continue to stay on top.
Anything else that you would like to add or touch on?
-After my sophomore season, where I placed second at state, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue wrestling due to double hip reconstruction surgery. There was a lot of uncertainty about whether I’d even be able to wrestle again. Being given the opportunity to come back from those surgeries and continue chasing my dreams meant everything to me.
I was cleared just two weeks before my junior season started, and it was a tough year — I had to relearn my shots and rebuild everything from the ground up. I truly had to start from the bottom and work my way back. In the end, all the hard work paid off when I won a state championship last year. Wrestling has taught me so much, not just about the sport, but about life — that if you truly want something and are willing to work for it, you can succeed no matter the obstacles.
