Colby Sandusky

Colby Sandusky from the Torrington Trailblazers is our next Featured Wrestler!  Colby is a heck of a wrestler and a very nice young man.  Thanks for taking time for the interview Colby and good luck the rest of the season!

-What is your favorite thing about wrestling?
My favorite thing about wrestling would be the experience that it provides and meeting new wrestlers.

-Favorite past wrestler/coach?
My favorite coach is Pete Polkowske.

-Goal for wrestling, life, and career?
My goal for wrestling is to obtain my second state championship this year and just enjoy wrestling.

-If you could teach a younger wrestler one thing, what would it be?
If I could teach a younger wrestler one thing it would be to never give up on yourself, there are going to be tough defeats and hardships throughout the sport but you just have to fight through them they are what makes you better.

-You took a big leap at state from your sophomore year to your junior season. Can you talk about the work that went into that both physically and mentally?
The work that went into the leap from sophomore year to my junior year was alot of struggles in the wrestling room with partners that pushed me and made me be a better wrestler, and yeah there was alot of physical work and exausting conditioning but it was all worth it in the end.

-Torrington has made huge strides as a team in just a few short years. Can you talk about the program that Coach Grant and his assistant coaches have built?  Also, talk about what it means to be a Trailblazer.
The program that Cody and Pete have built and are still trying to build is a very good program.  They show you how to work hard and push yourself in the wrestling room but they also let you enjoy yourself a little bit too with music and just alot of positive energy in the room. It means alot to me to be a trailblazer, there is alot of good people in the school and we all have some sort of connection with each other which to me helps me to be a better wrestler and helps me strive for the best.
