-Favorite thing about wrestling?
My favorite thing about wrestling is that it’s just me out there on the mat. Going out and competing solo makes the wins so much more rewarding and meaningful.
-Favorite past wrestler/coach?
My favorite Coaches are Coach Thad Trujillo and Coach Ben Barrows of Bearcave Wrestling. Both have been a huge part in my success and both have been in my corner for as long as I can remember.
-Goal for wrestling, life, and career?
One thing I would teach a younger wrestler is that wins and losses don’t matter. What matters is how you respond to defeat and how you let it affect your work ethic and attitude.
-What are a couple of the most important lessons that you have taken away from Coach Trujillo and the East program?
One of my favorite lessons Coach Trujillo has taught me is that how do one thing is how you do everything, if you don’t put in 100% effort in the practice room then that will translate to how you preform in competition. Another lesson Coach Trujillo has taught me is that wrestling is simple math, the person who is more offensive is more likely to win the match.
-You had a lot of success early in your high school career. Can you touch on the expectations that you put on yourself and how have you dealt with other peoples expectations?
Coming in to high school my goal was to be a four time state champion from the start. I definitely had high expectations for myself and felt that others had high expectations for me as well. Overall I think these expectations are what pushed me to get to the level I am now.
