Favorite thing about wrestling?
I love the part that it’s only you out there and nobody else to rely on. You learn to depend upon yourself and your preparation.
Favorite past wrestler/coach?
My cousin Kye is my favorite past wrestler, growing up watching him wrestle and win his 4th state championship set the standards high for my brothers and I to try to be like him. His hard work and discipline is something I’ve always strived to achieve. My favorite coach would be my dad and coach Mikah Kadera. My dad taught me the basics of wrestling and pushed me to be the best I could. Coach Mikah Kadera has had a huge impact on my life, from the wrestling world to teaching me life lessons and becoming a better person.
Goal for wrestling, life, and career?
My goal for the end of my high school wrestling career is to finish on top at the end of the year. After Wrestling and high school is over, I have decided to go play college football at Black Hills State University. Choosing between wrestling and football was a hard decision but ultimately it came down to playing football.
If you could teach a younger wrestler one thing, what would it be?
If I could teach a younger wrestler one thing, it would be the importance of discipline and perseverance. Wrestling can be tough, but staying committed and pushing through challenges will help you in the long run.
Can you touch on what it meant to win Thunder Basins first state title last season and how this years team is using that momentum to try to stay on top?
Winning our first state title as a school has been something we have been working on for years. Winning our first school team title was very special, and being part of it will be a memory I cherish. This year we have a target on our back, but hopefully that momentum from last year transitions to this year and we can be victorious again.
Can you give us some insight on what it was like having two older brothers that are studs on the mat and what that meant in your wrestling career?
Growing up with those two has taught me a lot in life. Not only did I get practice during wrestling season, but I got it every night of the week at home too. They pushed me and we even had some pretty intense matches at home. They taught me the value of hard work and toughness. Not only are they my biggest role models but I also want to make them proud.
